two types of Verb in English
 1-intransitive verb
 2- Transitive verb 

1-intransitive verb

 This verb is called the intransitive verb, which is limited to the subject like
 I sleep.
He laughs.
The sun rises. 

2-The Transitive verb

 Is that kind of verb which the object is also necessary with the object and remains unstable without the object. like "I ate." It is an incomplete sentence because we do not understand which kind of thing be eaten but when we tell"I ate an apple. then we understand completely.

 Note: only transitive verb convert in to passive voice.

 passive sentence 
It was done by Saima.
 It was done by the cobbler.
 The first two sentences are stronger, they sound like an accusation. the3ᴿᴰand 4ᵀᴴsentence are weaker ,they sound like "saima" or "the cobbler" did nothing more sinister than a load of laundry.

Passive:Trespassers will be prosecuted.

We were given a week.

Some verbs(for example,give,lend,promise,send and show)can have two objects
:a person and thing.
♦ They gave Waheed a prize.Or
♦ They gave a prize to Waheed.
♦We sent Waheed a birthday card.Or
♦We sent a birthday card to Waheed.
Theseverbs have two possible passive structures.
♦Waheed was given a prize.OR
Õ:A prize was given to Waheed.
Õ:Waheed was sent a birthday card.OR
Õ:A birthday card was sent to Waheed.
